pubs & off licences 18 years 1 month ago #1

When a pub operates an off licence from part of the premises or the building next door (i don't mean selling cans from behin the bar), can they legally take bottles of beer from the off licence to sell behind the bar? For example could you ask a barma to go to the off licence part of the pub and get some beers to sell to you from the bar (at bar prices obviously)?

The simple answer is yes, however the VAT rate is different and this will make the beer deerer in the pub, the customer can even buy a bottle in a different off license and bring it into the pub, although most publicans would frown on this but they could also just charge a corkage fee.
