pardon my ignorance on the paid promotion issue, but has anyone here who blogs received or been offered money for publicising an event or product?

I was contacted by the aforementioned festival with the 'budget' word included. I explained I'd never before and hopefully never intend to take money. Surely that just makes you a walking advert (and there are plenty of those around) rather than a blogger with a valid opinion?

I certainly haven't. But congrats -- I assume you quit the day job straight away?

Definitely if you get paid to promote something you have to mention that in any promotional message. It's up to your audience to decide what that makes you and your opinions <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->
