The two pubs that TBN recommended me in Rome are excellent. Well, ok, so I only went to Bir & Fud, and it's a lot more of a restaurant with excellent beer than a pub, but the food was excellent, and a great range of beer (I had the Baladin Nora - on draught )
The other one the name of which is long and Italian and escapes me is across the street and down a bit. It's owned by the same guys, so I assume a similar range of great beer. They had many beers that I really, really wanted to try (Flying Dog stout on draught!) but I was with a non-beer friend on a cultural trip I stuck my nose in just to see it and it's small and dark and poky, but looks cool.
They're in Trastevere, which is near nothing whatsoever. A good 20min+ walk from the nearest metro stop (Circus Maximus/Circo Massimo). Best to get a taxi really.
