Daniel Reynolds has been Head Brewer at Carrig Brewing Company for almost the last two years. During this period, he has completed an extensive number of brews and has also had the pleasure of training in different assistant brewers from around the world. March 10th, will be his last day at Carrig Brewing Company and they would like to thank him greatly for all of his hard work and commitment that has ensured that during his period as head brewer, Carrig Brewing Co. has continued to grow and develop into the brand that they had envisaged.
Their newly appointed head brewer Francesco Sottomano has been acclimatising to the brewery for the past month. This March, he will take over the reigns as Head Brewer and is excited to implement the many ideas that he has, in regard to the brewing of their beers.
Francesco an Italian native was born in Taranto, a city in southern Italy located in a region called Puglia. When he was 18, he moved to Florence. Here, he spent his spare time homebrewing and honing the skills that he is using today. He began homebrewing in 2007 and has had a love of beer from the very first moment that he started brewing in his own home.
Francesco has always had a keen interest in the craft beer industry and from a young age realised that his dream was to become a head brewer. Taking part in an Erasmus program provided him with his breakthrough opportunity, working as a brewer for Brouwerij De Prael brewery in Amsterdam. He spent 6 months there, where he continued to hone his brewing skills.
When he returned to Italy, he acquired the position as Head Brewer in Birra Brunz, a medium sized brewery near Florence in Tuscany. During his time as Head Brewer he completely changed the range of beers they were producing, using his own wealth of knowledge to greatly improve the quality of beers. This in turn caused a great increase in the popularity of the brews that Birra Brunz were producing. After spending a successful couple of years as a head brewer in Italy. He was eager to seek out a different challenge, and experience the art of brewing in a different part of the world. Luckily for Francesco, his accomplishments at Birra Brunz caught the eye of Carrig Brewing Co. who decided to seek out his services. Carrig Brewing Co. were successful in their pursuit, and are pleased to announce that this has led to Francesco uprooting to our very own Lovely Leitrim, where he has been given the opportunity to show off his brewing talents and further develop his skills, in the position of Head Brewer at Carrig Brewing Co.
It is safe to say that there are certainly exciting times ahead at the brewery. From everybody at Carrig Brewing Company they would like to firstly, sincerely thank their departing head brewer Daniel Reynolds for all of the fantastic beers that they have produced together and wish him all the best for the future. They also state that they are delighted to welcome Francesco Sottomano aboard as part of the Carrig Brewing Co. team, and are looking forward to his tenure at the brewery and cannot wait to begin creating beer together.
