I doubt any of the minor ones will either. Except us, obviously <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->

Just a thought; but I'm assuming that the garages, supermarkets, offies etc. that the clown Ahern is demonising have gone through the proper channels and acquired their licences legitimately. In addition to which they would've also had to have bought a licence on the open market, which due to the restriction of law are artificially inflated in price to c. €170,000.

So if a business owner has gone to the trouble of properly complying with the law, forked out a significant sum of money because of the anti-competitive laws that FF refuse to change, it's very possible that the new set of laws proposed will force these business to close or at least realise a substantial loss, as they are of the "wrong" type to sell alcohol.

And this from the supposedly pro-business FF, all so they can help out their mates, the publicans.

Good point.

Additionally, if they simply legislate against certain types of business selling alcohol, there will suddenly be a glut of cheap licences on the market, and Cllr Johnny Publican won't like that.

Should we tip off Mr Wetherspoon?

It does look like they've decided what they are going to do without actually listening to the report.
Then they'll make some recommendations about the sale of alcohol and say they're doing something about the problem.
But do they ever come back to see if the recommendations have made any difference? Not usually. The politicians don't seem to measure the results of these measures, they just like to be seen to be doing something even if it has no effect.
