I thought this was a really interesting story. Back in 2011, scientists discovered a yeast in South America which appeared to be the true ancestor of modern lager yeast. What I didn't know was that the strain was subsequently patented by Heineken and now they're getting ready to release a lager based on it. Apparently they've also allowed any small Argentinian breweries to use the yeast for free, presumably just to annoy their dominant competitor, AB-InBev.
