Looking for some advice on what town would be a good place for some quality beer the night before the Ireland France game in the world Cup. We fly into Birmingham and the game is in Cardiff. We want to avoid Cardiff due to obscene hotel prices so was wondering if someone knew a town where we could drink well and stay a bit cheaper

Just a bit further on from Cardiff is Bristol. Well recommended and plenty of food and beer places...if that's too far then perhaps Newport with tiny rebel brewery.

Tiny Rebel make great beer but Newport is a kip. Probably won't be too cheap either as I imagine a good few rugby fans will have booked there given how close it is to Cardiff.
