Most smoked malt that I have seen is smoked with beech wood. I have seen oak smoked wheat but not come across oak smoked malt. Wonder how it would taste. Does it exist and if not is there a reason?

Its a bit more acrid, I prefer the bacon goodness from beech <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

MAF tried home smoking malt with Bog Oak a couple of years ago, it made a decent enough beer

bog-smoked barley has a bit of a ring to it!

Bog oak smoked malt would certainly be a unique product. Adam (biertourist) would definitely buy some!

Personally I'd like to see the likes of Vienna and Munich malted in Ireland

Weyermann do an oak-smoked wheat malt (basically for grodziskie), as it happens.
