Paulaner? Made outside Germany? 11 years 7 months ago #1

Ok, I'm confused about this, I thought Paulaner was only made in Bavaria, they even state it on their website:

[quote:26irmb2e]It is important to know that [b:26irmb2e]each and every Paulaner beer, which is drunk anywhere in the world, was brewed in Munich[/b:26irmb2e] in full accordance with the strictly-applied Bavarian Purity Law of 1516.[/quote:26irmb2e]

Seems pretty straight-forward, right? BUT: <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

[quote:26irmb2e]All Paulaner beers offered in the brewhouse are brewed on site in unadulterated form according to the German purity law of 1516. Whether light or dark: all Paulaner beers are always tapped fresh and with lots of fizz. The special beers offered twice to three times a year on a seasonal basis are also brewed internally for guests to see.[/quote:26irmb2e]

and

[quote:26irmb2e]Paulaner is home to two customized copper and steel fermentation tanks (total capacity 10 hectoliters) imported from the legendary Paulaner Brewery in Germany. These tanks are where Master Brewer Andreas Heidenreich, who has crafted beer at Paulaner Brewery branches all over the world, holds court, creating a rotating line-up of unfiltered and unpasteurized beer, just like what’s made at the nearly 400-year-old Munich brewery. So are Paulaner just straight-up lying on their website?

There is a Paulaner brewhouse in Budapest, but I did not see any brewing. maybe it's just there for show.

Left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, I guess. Paulaner is never brewed under licence, but the international Paulaner brewpubs have been around for years and years. The White Gypsy brewkit, before going to Kinsale Brewing Company, was built for an Asian Paulaner brewpub.

Perhaps you need to stress the 'was' when reading that sentence?
