Welcome back, what happened to you?

Raspberry are supposed to be good match with a porter, I would added then to the secondary to help keep as much of the fruit aroma

But I think the Coriander would be swamped by the porter

Eh, think the raspberry/coriander is for the beer *after* the porter <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

And welcome back B-M <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> Was away for a few months myself, and may have to leave again fo a bit, but I had no such interesting reason. Hope you're better now <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

A wheat beer would be a good base for the raspberry/coriander experiment

Raspberry and Coriander eh? How did you come up with that combo? I can't say I've heard of that one before.[/quote:2yjyawex]
I`d imagine that 2 months looking at a hospital ceiling would open your imagination WIDE open right enough.

Have you done a fruit beer before? I have done some in the past and there are a few tricks to it.

I posted a few tips in this thread: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="www.beoir.org/community/viewtopic.php?t=935">viewtopic.php?t=935 if you need some advice. Look for my post about half way down the page.

Yeah the porter will be done first with a mini mash. I'm going to use [url:373m32zl]http://www.byo.com/feature/1536.html[/url:373m32zl] this method from Brew Your Own so I'll let you all know how that goes.
Then I'll do the raspberry beer. I'm still off work so have plenty time to potter around making beer.

Thanks for all those tips Sean. Yeah I was thinking of using just pale dried malt extract and small amounts of hallertau hops and letting the raspberry be the main flavour. Oh and maybe some spices as well.
