There's some commentary on the last two years' events in this thread[/url:o96qt586]. It's good, but you're not likely to find anything that you can't get in a decent off licence. I certainly couldn't justify travelling to Galway or paying in to it. I'd rather spend the day in Sheridan's.

And the name is, frankly, a bit of an insult.

Edit: though I see this year it's only "[i:o96qt586]in association with[/i:o96qt586] the Great Irish Beer Festival" whatever that means.

It's not Great and it's not Irish. You won't find the Irish Breweries at it as the charging structure imposed by the organisers (unless it's changed) makes it hard for them to break even.

It is a bit of a glorified off licence as BeerNut pointed out and based on the misleading name alone I don't feel it's worth supporting.
