Wasn't that impressed. Found it a bit sweet with not enough hops to balance it out . Something called Hoppelhammer I was expecting more. Reckon it would be one to try on cask though.
The cask version that I had at the Belfast festival last year was excellent- And it won beer of the show. I got a bottle same day from the Vineyard which was also good. However the bottle I had the other night wasn't a patch on those. I'm guessing the originals were heavily dry-hopped.
I had a few keg pints last weekend and a bottle the other day and I really like it. It lacks the toastiness you get in the likes of Bengal Lancer but there's a similar tangy marmalade thing going on that I enjoy.
It's not too bad: a bit sticky and rough, but there's certainly plenty of bitter tang - I got lots of orange and grapefruit. Found it to be pretty unpolished though. Would be very interested to try it on either keg or cask - I hope some of it will make its way down seeing as there have been a few casks of Clotworthy Dobbin in various pubs over recent weeks.
