Absolutely. CAMRA is a UK organisation which promotes cask beer. CAMRA NI is a branch of this and I don't see how they can depart from this agenda on their own. Having said that I would have thought that any beer that was on cask would have been welcome, whether produced year round or not.

CAMRA have a very narrow remit and that's their preogative. I don't think anyone standing outside has any right to complain about their rules. They serve their objectives, not ours. Does this bring us back to the EBCU thread <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

However, I think it's highly unfair to say that their not doing what we'd like is "a disgrace".

I certainly wouldn't call it a disgrace myself, as they're doing bloody brilliant work. I also wouldn't be asking them to do something to suit [i:91fw4n0p]us[/i:91fw4n0p] (although it depends who you mean by us, I thought you meant ICB), but maybe think about broading their scope locally to help promote the craft brewers on this Island in their territory.

Did the rules stipulate that the brewery had to produce cask ale year round? If brewers who don't normally produce cask ale were prepared to make a festival edition this should, in my view, have been accepted.

Camra are of course free to make their own rules and I'm all in favour of a bit of pressure in favour of conditioned beer. I understand the point about the economics of cask beer in a pub environment, but there is no excuse for the number of microbreweries selling filtererd pasteurised bottled ale.
