Tonight I am drinking............. 18 years 5 months ago #1

There are a multitude of threads on here describing individual beers and their taste etc. but I have decided to open this one up to the current beer in a glass in front of you.

Currently I am drinking a Coopers Original Pale Ale. This is my second ever and to be honest I can't say that I'm a fan. It is over hopped for my taste tonight and thinner than what I was hoping for from an ale. This may taste much nicer in hot weather as my grumbles point to a summer drink not a nice comfy winter beer.

I quite like Coopers ales. I don't remember finding the Pale Ale overly hoppy, but then I like hoppy beers. It is a little thin as you say, this probably suits their climate better than ours, especially as we're coming into the colder weather.

I'm on a bit of a homebrew roll tonight. I had a Fixby Gold (kit) which was quite nice and a BadAss Brown (hoppy brown ale) which I'm enjoying a lot. I've got a bottle of Goose Island IPA to finish off with.

Had a Belfast Ale earlier, and now just finishing a Clotworthy Dobbin. Might have a homebrewed "3B" if I'm still awake enough <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Just finished an O'Haras Celtic Stout. Oh Yum! This is a REAL BEER that takes no prisoners. Full flavour rich creamy but with a pleasurable bite. I'd need a Jilly Golden to describe this beer. I had one last christmas and gave the other to a friend. We were both very impressed but I can't get it locally so this is a special treat.

Now for a very green Black Moor Stout sample ( to saee if it is carbonating <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> )

After finally getting my son to sleep, I've just opened a Badger Golden Champion[/url:l3e5ults](and put the rest of a badger sett in the fridge, just in case). The label mentions elderflowers, and I can certaily pick them out. It's actually very pleasent, and earthy. I should have chilled it a bit like the label suggested, but it's not too bad off the shelf.

The O'Hara's is very tasty, and better out of the bottle then on draught IMHO <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

<edit>Just noticed that link I posted mentions Jilly Gouldon! <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

<edit2>Just opened a Badger Golden Glory[/url:l3e5ults]. Meh, bit of an acquired taste, but then, I don't like peach. I didn't expect it to be so prominently peachy in flavour <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( --> Tempted not to finish it so I can get onto something else.
