Has any one got any recommendation on good beers to look out for in northern Spain? I'll be in Santander next weekend. Ive been told that the local cider is supposed to be good.

Asturian cider is very good, the theatre of the pour from a height is fun in itself.

was in the picos for a week last year, the cider was real nice. cheap too <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) --> was starting to get the knack of pouring it after a few days

yeah a guy in work told me about the cider and pouring it from a height. Sounds like it can get very messy after a few bottles

I had this recently in spain will sitting on my own in a bar. I thought it was going to get a glass of some local cloudy cider, but what i got was a litre bottle of cider and two glasses. The bar man couldn't believe i was going to drink it on my own, i ended up ditching the high pour and started doing shots of cider to try and get through the bottle in time! At 7% i was fairly on it by the time i was leaving.

I really enjoyed the cider in northern Spain. It's served flat and has a refreshing peppery flavour. Where I was some of the bars used an attachment on top of the bottle to draw the cider from the bottle and spray it into the glass at high speed. This aerated the cider and improved the flavour.




This attachment is placed on top of the bottle and the glass is placed in the hand of the figure. There is a button on the back of the head that when pressed draws the cider from the bottle and sprays it onto the glass. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
