Blackrock cellar has taken the spot of the former odd-bins. In fact the guy running the shop is a former employee.

That Odbins had an ok selection of beer but this time around he is really pushing it. Not only in terms of space in-store but also in the window display and a big window sign announcing Irish Craft Beer available here.

There are also tastings on Fridays, not sure if it's every week or month.

I grabbed a Cantillon Geuze and another American IPA while in there as well as a big bag of Keogh's / Dungarvan beefy stout crisps.

The prices for the Irish stuff seems a little high to me, not sure about the imports but he seems passionate about his beer.

Might be worthy of a sticker. Anyone live in Blackrock? Otherwise one of the Dun Laoghaire heads can drop one in.

That Oddbins was my Goto for good beer many years ago. In fact that's where I first came across Curim. I can drop in a sticker over the weekend if no one beats me to it.

Sticker dropped in. Turns out the new owner is Joel who I knew from the Oddbin days. He has a serious amount of craft beer and pretty much every beer being made by Irish micros right now- Including Alpha Dawg. Also has Armagh Cider which I haven't seen before. Was extremely happy to get a sticker and put it up on the door while I was there.

He's a nice guy alright. He was knowledgeable enough to make sure I liked geuze when I was buying the Cantillon. No doubt from experience, people bringing it back thinking it's gone off. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Nice! Stopping in there on my way home this afternoon! Thanks for the tip.

Oddbins used to be the place to get the BrewDog Paradox Stout variations before they went out of business.

I used to pop in there when it was Oddbins too - it was the only place I knew of that consisently stocked Deuchars IPA.

I've been into the new shop but I must echo the comments of the original poster: The prices seemed to be very much on the high side, particularly for the Irish stuff (Dungarvan jumped out at me in particular, from what I can recall).

On the one hand I'm delighted to see the range on offer and another venue for the sale of Craft Beer, but if I am dead honest the prices would have me travelling to other locations in South Dublin unless I lived right in Blackrock village.
