Good beer in cans - Where and what? 13 years 9 months ago #25

Carry out off licenses are doing an offer at the moment 6 cans for 10 euros and the selection is
Hobgoblin
Old Speckled Hen
Ruddles
And Some Badger offering, I can't remember now for the life of me, in any case 4 good english ales.

I have to admit I am a recent convert to cans, always previously having thought I got a taste of metal. Brewing appears to have refined my beer palate in any case and I now no longer like the skunking I get with any beer in a non-brown bottle.

Hoppy (English hops) bitter. I like it but if you don't like LP there's a risk you may not like it. Have you tried LP in cans? I actually think it has more flavour than the bottle but haven't blind tested it.[/quote:e5dveuwd]

yep have to say I though the canned product was much better than the bottled version

Supervalu on Aston quay have Old Speckled Hen, Badger Tanglefoot and ESB in cans. They are all around the €2 mark.

Turns out I don't like Old Speckled Hen from the can either. Tanglefoot's nice enough though.

I have to say I'm really enjoying the hobgoblin.

Very tasty beer.

It's even better on cask and is lower in alcohol. It's permanently on in the Bridge Bar at Heathrow airport.
