Craft Beer Economic Figures 14 years 2 months ago #1

Lads and ladies, I'm doing a small bit on Irish government policies that promote growth and exports and want to cite craft beer as an example.

I've got info on the the tax breaks and have some employment facts(craft brewers employ seven times more than macro brewers) but could perhaps do with some info on how much Irish craft beer gets exported each year particularly before and after the 2004 tax break.

I'd be very interested in reading about this, unfortunately I have no data to share but would love to see any hard figures you come across and the finished piece.

Not local but worth a read.

Forgot all about this.

Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with much other than what I mentioned plus that some breweries export get 90% of their revenue from exports (though this figure came from a report a few years old so I'd imagine it's less now).

I emailed Carlow Brewing and got no reply (assuming they just don't want to share the info). Completely forgot to ask Seamus O'Hara when I was chatting to him at the beer festival. I'll ask next time I see him just out of curiosity.

The info you're looking for is on the web, well a lot of it is.

O'Hara's export 75% of their output (a portion of which is not own-label), turnover is around €21 million. Porterhouse export around 5%. Turnover around €32, but a lot of that is not brewing related.

No-one else is exporting I think, but I believe the Franciscan Well are looking to start.

In the time immediately prior to 2004, only O'Hara's was exporting I think, and you'd have a bit of a trawl to find what the figures were.

Company accounts are publicly filed, and are another place to look for info.
