Fruit Beer 14 years 8 months ago #1

What are people's opinions on fruit beer? So far I've tried a couple of fruit beers in a pub on a recent trip to prague, aswell as Cuvee-Brut[/url:1tgooap7] and Fruli[/url:1tgooap7], and although they all tasted nice, they don't resemble beer in any way, in my opinion.
Can anyone recommend me a beer that has a nice balance between the beer and fruit?

In my opinion the Liefmans Cuvee Brut is quite well balanced between the fruit and the beer. The problem lies in the base beer that is used. Oud Bruins don't really taste like normal beer. Even without fruit added the base beer will taste very cuboid and fruity.

Unfortunately 99% of fruit beers on the Market are sweetened so you will rarely taste the beer underneath. If you want a beer forward fruit beer then I would reccommend a traditional lambic fruit beer. Though be prepared...the base beer again does not really taste of normal beer.

It's similar to a round flavour except it's got 6 flat sides and 4 sharp edges <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->
