New Irish "craft beer" launched! 14 years 8 months ago #1

Got my hands on it this evening.

I can't post a decent resolution image but the label says "Craft brewed with 100% Pale Ale Malt and Aromatic hops"

Proof that the big boys see the Irish craft beer revolution as a threat.

Also it will be priced at Eur 2.49 a bottle or 5 for Eur 10, putting it about 50 cents below most Irish craft beers.

I'll report on the taste (if there is any) shortly.

Well it's certainly pale.

I had mentally prepared for a slightly beefier version of Smithwicks but it's a very different, bleached-blonde variation. All hop variables (bitterness, flavour, aroma) have been turned up. It's still quite tame when benchmarked against most Irish craft beers, but not unpleasant. It's closest relative would be bottled Or. I would order it in the pub if faced with the usual macro options.
