Stonewell cider 14 years 11 months ago #1

Just arrived in Bradley's in Cork, apparently. Looking forward to trying this.

It has arrived in Bradley's. I was talking to Michael the owner of Bradley's, concerned about the price €3.99. I also was concerned it might not sell well at that price level.

I like west country ciders, I have had double L a couple of times, but this cider is amazing 10/10. I hope there is no chemicals added to the apple juice.

The cider has a nice sweet dry taste, that is by far the best cider, I have had in recent years.

Just concerned at the price, but double L is €5.50 in drinkstore, this cider id far better value.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's all the hoopla about this cider?

(I've never heard of it before, but I've only tried 3 "real" ciders so that's not surprising (2 Spanish ones and Double L).)

it's only on sale less than a week, first harvest.

Picked up a couple of bottles of this the other night, and a bit too sweet for me. I'm presuming they stop it before it fully ferments out. It's also crystal clear, so presume that the force carb when bottling it. Personally, I prefer the double LL, as it has more of the flavour that I enjoy. I sometimes buy the larger bottles of double LL, which works out better, but proper cider in Ireland is very expensive. I doubt I will buy the stonewell again at nearly €4 a bottle.

Just tried this cider this evening and really liked it. Was expecting it to be a little drier, it's more on the sweet side. But it's packed full of flavour and I was genuinely surprised (but impressed) at how nice it is.
I agree with Rebel, it is the nicest cider I've tried in recent times - it far outclasses some of the Breton ciders.

Only negative is the price, but as Taf says good cider ain't cheap round here.
