I'm from the west side: Humboldt Park. The brewing scene is actually improving. The dust is still settling over the whole takeover, but the facts and reasons still aren't clear. I was at the Goose Island brewpub last week and the staff from the brewery was all there and answering questions. Lots of theories and not a lot of surety. That being said, two new Chicago breweries have opened in the past couple of months and three have started bottling/canning their beers. So there is hope.
