When i lived in england, i liked spitfire and bishops finger on cask, but all shepard s beers including double stout and up and under are the best of a bad lot.

the specials in recent times are poor at best. why are the beers from this brewery poor.

I think they're just being made cheaply and rushed out. It makes no kind of business sense, but then neither do clear glass bottles.

It could be they're trying to capitalise on their venerable reputation, but are destroying it in the process.

I definitely get the impression that this brewery is being run by a marketing bloke and an accountant, with no one with any love for beer having any clout.

The glass bottle thing is just lunacy. Even Budweiser wont allow their beer in glass bottles as they care too much about the taste of their beer.

When Budweiser care more about taste than you do....

They probably did once, but now the brown Bud bottle is "a design icon and a cornerstone of Budweiser's brand heritage" (made-up quote).

Nu-Bud is, of course, in clear glass like all the cool kids:

I stand corrected. Also a certain person who brewed bud will be notified of her ex employer not caring about hop skunk anymore
