I was in Mulligan's and was just about to order a black rock stout when the cask ran out......... The lady behind the bar said I'm sorry it is all gone and now we have a new cask on, Helvick Gold, now usually when I have just prepared myself (does anyone else get this [i:2v97g9p4]taste block[/i:2v97g9p4]?)for a stout anything else doesn't taste great but I must say the first pint of helvick gold out of a new cask was [i:2v97g9p4]bleedin delish[/i:2v97g9p4]!

I shall be forcing myself to have another pint next time I see it on cask!

Noby/Dungarvan brewing company - Is the hand pump in mulligans yours or is that their own? Would it be a viable niche to have a dungarvan hand pump in the usual bars or is the cask market to small?

I have to agree; Helvic Gold and Porterhouse Hop Head are the two best cask beers I've had in Ireland. Both are AMAZINGLY good on cask.

They're very different and I couldn't pick a winner except by season. (Helvic Gold in summer and Hop Head in winter for sure.)

Padraic, Dungarvin seem to have a cask ale on almost permanently at Against the Grain on Camden street, too.

They have a pretty loyal following there especially behind the bar.

Everywhere our beers are being served on cask the handpump is our own, with the exception of the Bull and Castle who have their own rotation tap. This includes L Mulligan's and Against the Grain.
