My favorite Barcelona pub owner/craft beer importer has gifted me an almost 2 year old bottle of BrewDog's "Speedball".
-The beer was required to be renamed to "Dogma" but apparently in October 2009 some bottles made it out of the door still labeled "Speedball".
It's a beer brewed with guarana, kola nuts (stimulants) and California poppy seeds (depressant (and hops)) and Scottish heather honey. -Now the Speedball name makes a bit more sense.
Light carbonation, amber, cloudy appearance, basically no head; smells like honey, I'd say it's either added in the fermenter or VERY late in the boil because there's a lot of delicate honey smells; very flavorful but pretty balanced with no one flavor sticking out too far.
-Actually, it tastes surprisingly similar to the 30 year old Westmalle Tripel I had for my birthday...
I hope whoever's importing BrewDog beers into Ireland gets a hold of some "Speedball"/"Dogma" as I'd definitely have it again.
