Imperial stout is my favorite style, and for me Tokyo didn't dissapoint. I think if it were toned down to about 10% ABV it would be PERFECT. The ABV definitely detracts from the experience but I really loved the strong roastiness and the cherry flavor from the cranberries...

If they'd make a 10% ABV version, or even a version of the Islay Stout with Cranberries, I'd find it very difficult to beat.

Right now my favorite European Imperial Stout is N0gne followed by Brew Dog Islay, but I think a cranberry version of the Islay stout could edge out N0gne for me.

-To each their own...

On a somewhat related note, I have been seeing Brooklyn Chocolate Stout around Dublin, lately...
(10% ABV Imperial Chocolate Stout)

Give it a try as a more subdued Tokyo alternative; it's still quite sweet so if you don't like sweet stout then you probably won't like it.

Cortinas Mexican restaurant in Dundrum now has it for a fiver; they're also carrying BrewDog beers now.

-My take is that Tokyo is to Brew Dog as Bourbon County Stout is to Goose Island in Chicago; they've both just taken the ABV too far; to the point that it detracts from the over all experience.

-Eoin, maybe it's just that all those years of drinking Rheinheitsgebot lager has altered your tastebuds so they reject flavor, top-fermentation, and real hops. Maybe Brewdog should release a lagered version with hop extract for the German market? hehehe

We'll get to see how brainwashed Barry has become during his time there, too shortly.

After two-and-a-half years, not at all. I still maintain a cellar of international flavours (never mind frequent trips), as well as brewing my own. But there's plenty of flavoursome beer (whether lagered or not) to be had in Germany! Just as there's plenty of tasteless, boring stuff to be had everywhere else. No point in stereotyping, I find.

Oh man, nothing wrong with reinheitsgebot, I'm a big fan myself, while it might have killed off diversity in Germany, we have the Belgians for that. I'll not be dissuaded from my reality that a good Pilsener is the pinnacle of the brewers craft.
I gave it a shot, I do also like some good flavoursome beers, but I don't like beer that makes me gag.
