I'm quite partial to Mcardles actually spud, a few places in Wexford seem to stock it.. think it's got a bit more about it than Smithwicks..

Has anyone tasted the Specially Selected Irish Red Ale in Aldi? it's pretty good actually and it's brewed in Carlow.. I can sense this is perhaps old news and I wil be met with a chorus of previous threads discussing it's merits or otherwise...

Whatever happens I'm in to Tesco this evening to get me 6 of the best(ish)..

I will not direct you to other threads.. but I will say that yes we are aware of the aldi ale.. great stuff and a lot consider it superior to the normal O'Hara's.

picked up some hobgoblin at tesco good value, decided to check what it,s finishing gravity was so put some in the microwave and heated it a bit to around 40c to degass it then cooled it to 20c.It has a finish of 1011,my wife is wondering if I have lost it but then again you have to have it to do that <!-- s:twisted: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt="" title="Twisted Evil" /><!-- s:twisted: -->

Now re-carbonate it and see if it is different.
