Almost embarassed to post this one, but I tried Heineken "Oud Bruin" today. A very dark brown color, only 2.5% ABV, and really, REALLY cloyingly sweet. -An abomination in my opinion. Says it's sweetened with sugar and "dye caramel"$$ some sources online say that it's sweetened with saccharine; regardless of what it's sweetened with it's just way too sweet. Pretty bad.

Had a Hertog Jan to get rid of the taste of the Oud Bruin...

I love it. It's much better than the other Dutch oud bruin's, which all have a nasty metallic artificial sweetener tang.

but in fairness, you do think that Asahi Black is a decent beer too <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

I'm quite prepared to file Heineken Oud Bruin with Cobra and Bécasse Lambic Doux under "Crap I Happen To Like". But the Asahi Black situation may need to go to arbitration.
