Craft beer at music festivals? 15 years 11 months ago #1

Just wondering if anyone has encountered it or heard about it coming up at any festivals?

The Porterhouse might be the only ones big enough to actually supply a festival mind. Would love to see them at Oxegen this year as ordinarily when I go, I do not drink as it's Carslberg or water and water wins hands down

I read somewhere that PH tried to get in on the electric picnic but no go. Problem is that the festivals get paid such a huge amount by the likes of bud and heineken for exclusive licenses, they just can't afford to let any otheres in. Even at the tiny fests this can be the case. I remember at castlepalooza a couple of years ago all there was was kopperberg and corona

Booo down with that sort of thing.

It's a shame there's no room for a company like the Porterhouse at the Electric Picnic alright. They did supply the beer for a gig in Meeting House Square last year which was great. It was a fundraiser for DEAF (Dublin Electronic Arts Festival).

When the electric picnic first started there was a stall in the Body and Soul selling craft beers but they're gone. Pieminister used to sell flagons of cider but that was gone last year too. We asked them and apparently the large beer company that sponsors it said they couldn't sell it...
I'm pretty sure oxygen is the same but probably even more so as it doesn't have as much as an alternative vibe.

I think getting craft beer at Oxegen would be blood from a stone kind of effort. I worked at a local festival back in the old country and because it was sponsored by Guinness we weren't allowed to serve Heineken... (the tap was even taken off)

Witnness was sponsored by Guinness and the name changed to Oxegen when sponsored by Heineken, they're even naming the festivals to sound a bit like their brands! Evil... Maybe... Paranoid... Maybe...
