Thanks to all the brewers who had a chat with me yesterday.
The brewers were cordoned off in an area away from the rest of the food. This meant
1.Many people did not know they were there, the signs pointing out where the tent was were put up late in the game.
2.The space was small so you could not sit out and have a beer. So many people didn't bother. This was due to Garda request, I am told.
3.The beer tent was away from the artisan food tent so many people who might have had a fancy cheese and a pint or somesuch didn't
4.Beer was made to look like it might cause middle class gardening fans to become marauding psychos unless the beer drinkers were properly contained
5.The charge for the tent was quite high apparently. Much higher than Septemberfest which considering people were paying 20 euro in is odd.
The Bloom event in general was great. I just question some of the choices made as regards the beer end of things. Irish craft beer does not get many chances to advertise itself to the general public every year and when one is not used to its full potential it is a bit of a shame.
