Was in the Bull and Castle yesterday (showing a tourist around Dublin, how could I not visit?), and they didn't have a cask on so I got a pint of Headless Dog from the polypin. I had never seen beer dispensed this way before, looks like the boxes of wine you can buy in the airport. The beer went down well, perhaps a little cold but that could have been fixed with some patience, to me it didn't taste too different to Headless Dog on cask. Are these polypins available in any offie? It would be great for a rugby evening on tv, 18 pints perfect for four people. Probably less expensive than buying 18 bottles too.

I think Deveney's in Dundrum had them for about 40 quid. Nice idea for a once off. But a bit too expensive to be trying to make money from, from my point anyway.

How long do they last when unopened or from when first opened?

Firstly, you need to buy them shortly after they are filled , and drink them ASAP. I bought one and left it in the press for a week before chilling. I drank it over 6/7 days but it definitely lost quality by then.
Plus it looked like a football because of the yeast producing a bit of Co2 before i first opened it.

Maybe a little more work is required on the technology. Pity, I got all excited after the pint yesterday thinking I had discovered a handy way to keep beer on tap at home on the cheap.
