My recent Beerangel order 16 years 6 months ago #1

So I got my order from Beerangel last week and I've put a bit of a dent into the order already. Some really surprising (and tasty!) beers so far, in particular the Fürst Wallerstein Landsknecht-Bier.

I was quite surprised at the the colour of this beer. It was listed as a "Heavy Beer" on the website but it looks like a really dark Ale or even Stout.

I've made sure to keep bit of a log on what each beer tastes like so I'll know which ones to get, or not, in the future.

Here's a list of what I got. Anybody tried any of them?
I have some of the notes that I made beside the beers that I've tried so far. I have the list in my iphone so it's really handy to just make a couple of simple notes while drinking without having to fire up the aul diesel fired computer at home!

A shame its difficult to get beer from small German breweries in this country.

16 years 6 months ago #3

Why are they all large breweries?

Let's see, Hacker-Pschorr is Heineken; Löwenbräu is A-B InBev; Mönchshof is Kulmbacher (3,000,000 hl/yr) and Veldensteiner is Kaiser Bräu (500,000 hl/yr).

Hirschbräu produces just 30,000 hl/yr. I can't find anything about how big Fürst Wallerstein or Maxlrainer are, though.

Hmmm, doesn't make them less nice I suppose.

Absolutely not. For presumably historical reasons this forum is called "Craft Beer Talk". It should really be "Craft Beer and Beer-That-Isn't-Craft-But-Is-Nice-Anyway Talk".
