Blarney Blonde V Belfast Blonde? 16 years 7 months ago #1

My wife's Aunt came over to visit from the US recently.
She arrived a Millar light (not even available here its so bad) person and the first night I took her to B&C and handed her a Blarney Blonde and she is now a massive fan. she also liked rebel lager and likes a lot of other micro brew beers I gave her as long as they are not too bitter but the Blarney blonde has her wrapped around its finger.

Since its not available in bottles, I am wondering is Belfast blonde very similar? I had Belfast once and I can not remember if it is the same sort of blonde beer as Blarney or if its a more normal super sweet blonde like leffe?

Anyway she leaves in the morning so wanted to see if Belfast is similar so I can give her a few bottles to take home.

Blarney Blonde is definitely drier and crisper than Belfast Blonde, though Belfast Blonde is far from being super-sweet.

My preference of the two is for Belfast Blonde -- I think it's one of Ireland's best beers, in fact. But if I were looking for a bottled substitute for Blarney Blonde I'd probably go for Belfast Lager.

Perhaps a mix?

Good idea, he likes her lager so will be fine with both.

Thanks

On a side note, have you tried the Porterhouse plain porter in the bottle? WOW

Yeah, I was totally underwhelmed first time I had it, since I normally serve my beers at about 10°C. But the second time, at room temperature in the Porterhouse it was a different beer. Third time it was just as good <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Definitely one to have from the shelf.

I had it once, at the porterhouse north. He convinced me to try it instead of the Wrasslers I had ordered and I am glad I did, after all I was not a big fan of plain on tap so this blew me away and it was pretty much room temp or a little below.

Franscian Wells kenmare beer is the better than Blarney blonde although technically both beers are almost identical.
