Yesterday's Metro 16 years 7 months ago #1

I may have been dreaming, but I swear I saw a tiny article in yesterday's Metro to the effect that Whitewater are 'taking on' Guinness in New York with their Belfast Black Dry Stout for St Patrick's day.

Anyone else see it?

It'd be like Bernard Dunne taking on Ali in his prime. Fairplay to them for trying but it'll be fairly one-sided.

I was more shocked that craft beer was getting coverage at all in the Metro. The tone was very positive.

I saw that piece too, I think it was just poorly written if that's the implication that came aross. There's no way Whitewater are trying to take on Guinness, I think they are just happy to have gotten into a number of bars in the Big Apple. Tried the Belfast Black at Septemberfest and thought it was pretty good, so good luck to them.

Should have also mentioned that I was reading it off the man next to me's copy of the Metro on the bus, and it was next to the picture of the most almighty snake I have ever seen which was appearantly pulled from a river <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: --> so I didn't get a proper read of it.

Not quite so. O'Hara's has carved a nice little niche for themselves in some of the better beer bars in NYC like dba and The Old Peculier (and, indeed, Stout).

I'd expect Whitewater to go the same route.
