Program about setting up a microbrewery 8.30 Rte 1 tonight 16 years 8 months ago #1

Think this might be the fella in east cork, but can't find the thread, so not sure.

Higher Ground
Series about rural businesses. Farmer Rupert Hugh-Jones wants to set up a micro-brewery to produce premium organic beer. He has built a facility, but needs marketing advice

Gah! Stupid RTE player won't let me watch. What happened to being able to view their home-grown productions using realplayer or media player?

watching it now.

drinking a bottle of Carlow Red - very dissapointing drink actually - bring back Perry's ale.

on a 0 to 100 scale i put his probability of big success in the 30% probability.

Great show, very interesting, and Rupert clearly knows what he's at. Big yes on the 50cl swingtops, but I thought the marketing guys' price structure was out: I'd be going for €3 in the off trade; €3.50 is a lot for an Irish beer, however artisan. And not a word about export: I'd have though export would be a cornerstone of a business like that, what with Irish people so loyal to the macros.

Dying to try the west-coast style pale ale.

Very good Rupert, I enjoyed the show <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

One lesson I picked up from the Morrissey Fox program was to get some real unbiased public opinion

Just heard about this from my boss who is an avid drinker of my homebrew <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> Got to keep him happy.

Going to see if I can find it on RTE

edit: Just watched it, good show and I would like to try some of his beer.
