An its was still brewed with the Burton system then and not treated like a lager as like now

You have to take the context into account.

The alternatives were

Heineken, Miller, Carlsberg, Bulmers, Smithwicks or Guinness.

Fair enough if you are drinking in some English pub with real ales covering the bar.

It was a hot day and I was in a good mood, and I enjoyed that pint of Bass <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I would have a pint my self give the alternatives

used to love bass ( out of the can ) at 15 , but then they made it a little stronger , and it lost the flavour it had .


We used to have a can of it for starters before 5 cans of fosters

had a few pints of Bass after the match yesterday in The Brian Boru in Phibsboro and they were lovely
