Fuller's Brewer's Reserve 16 years 11 months ago #1

Just picked up a bottle of Fuller's Brewer's Reserve in Cork, anyone tried this yet? I didn't really like the Innis & Gunn offering but I'm hoping this might be a bit better. Really love the London pride and 1845. ESB was quite nice too but the Discovery was terrible I thought.

It hasn't got immense whisky character but strikes a good balance. It's a decent English strong ale underneath it all though, and that's the best part of it.

sweet. I'm looking forward to it now.

Yeah it's not bad. My review is here[/url:2omcmjc8]. Fuller's Vintage is better, though either is streets ahead of Innis & Gunn.

If you wanted to hang on to a bottle conditioned beer for a while (I'll be drinking this tonight), would the fact that it was stored by the retailer in a fridge do it any harm? Do fridge temperatures negatively affect a bottle conditioned beer if it is to be kept for a month+ afterward at cellar temps?

No. For one thing, cold temperatures don't harm yeast, they just put them to sleep. For another, the yeast in bottle conditioned beers is usually not the one the beer was fermented with. They filter the beer and then reseed before bottling to make the product more stable.
