I heard it was darker this year than last year's quite pale one. Any truth to this rumour?

The light's a bit crap here under the stairs, but I think it may be a bit darker than last year's. Still redder than your typical stout. Lovely creaminess and balance between sweet chocolate and dry stouty bitterness.
