Beers to try in TUrin? 17 years 4 months ago #1

I'm off to Turin foir a night at the end of the month, so was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to visit for beer oddities while there, perferably close to the city centre, as I may not have all that much time.

I had a look at Evan Rail's piece on Itialian craft beers[/url:3bwnl4qu], but I'm not sure I'll get a chance to visit Eataly, or be able to pay the price for some of the Baladin beers (€30 a bottle?).

Not a clue on the beer front, but I love the city, especially when it rains. Watch the Italian Job again before you go!

...but of course that's nothing a bit of Eye-tai Googling won't fix

Ta-da![/url:2qrg4mca]

I don't think there's an English version - if you need any help translating, send me a PM and I'll be more than happy to oblige

No, that's great. I can stumble my way through reading Italian as well as my German. Yes, both badly I'll keep an eye out for this stuff and see if I can get over there. Maybe my hosts will be helpful (they are a humanitarian agency after all).

My sister lived in Torino for a year or so and would kill you if she thought you were missing out on Eataly!

I borrowed this[/url:2tiry4ap] from the library recently and I reckon it'd be a great book for Europeans that travel a bit. Beers are divided by country and eventhough a lot of it includes macro there is some excellent stuff about the minor breweries.

It mentions a couple around Piemonte that I was gutted not to have visited. If you can get your hnds on a copy it's not bad (dunno if I'd pay my own money for it though)

Eataly looks amazing, I must say, but it looks like it's on the outskirts a bit, so unless I'm very lucky I may not be able to get there. Maybe I can stretch out the job for another day
