New Zealand's Brew Moon 17 years 6 months ago #1

Redmonds have some interesting new beers in stock from New Zealand brew pub 'Brew Moon Cafe' tasted the Pale Ale and the IPA they were both very tasty

[quote:3euve51t]Amberley Pale Ale - A clean nutty malt flavour and crisp hop bitterness combined with a fresh citrus hop aroma. 4.4%

Broomfield Brown Ale - Malty beer with a tawny brown colour. The use of ale yeast gives a fruity flavour which enhances the dark malts. 4%

Dark Side (of the Moon) Stout - A strong, dark and full flavoured beer with chocolate malts and roast barley, balancing the higher alcohol content, creating a beer that is creamy and very easy to drink. 6%

Hophead IPA - An organic India Pale Ale, this is a full bodied, malty beer that is heavily hopped resulting in a fruity hop character with a healthy bitterness balanced by the 5% alcohol.

They also have two extra offerings from La Chouffe being McChouffe and the Tripel IPA - I hope to taste them soon

Might take a wander that way later. I didn't like[/url:5lmzd1hw] the IPA (kindly donated by HapyAcidFace to the first ICB-B&C tasting last summer), but I thought[/url:5lmzd1hw] the stout was great.

Their stout was nice a little like SN stout I thought

Nice big 640ml bottles they're in: the homebrewer's friend (as long as he/she has a decent capper).

Redmond's also have Weihenstephaner Korbinian -- a superb doppelbock.

I liked the stout too. The IPA seems a bit hit and miss, I've had nice bottles in the past and also some dodgy ones.

I agree about the stout lads, it's a nice drop but hyper-carbed.

I was unimpressed by the brown ale though. It seems to be brewed to suit the NZ draught market, which is not a good thing
