There's a barrel-aged version called Ola Dubh I'd love to try. It uses Highland Park whisky casks. It's available in the States but I've not seen it here yet.

I had the Old Engine Oil on Sunday evening in the Bierhaus. Pretty nice, recomends it be served chilled which is a bit unusual for a scottish dark beer I would have thought. I concur with the comments about only in 330 ml btls. Paying the same price as a for a premium 500 ml bottle. I belieeve from Dave it is only brewed once or twice a year so it is hard for suppliers to get their hands on it. Well done Dave for getting it. I very much like the Bitter and Twisted and Scheballion from this brewery - maybe my hopes for this beer were a little inflated as I relaly like the last two mentioned beers.

i loved the old engine oil when i tried it on saturday night, had a lovely taste and for some reason i thought that there was a lovely after taste of summer fruits. all in all a good beer worth paying the premium once at least if not twice.

Without starting a quality/craft/price argument, it is pricey. You're paying Duvel prices for a 6% 33cl beer.

Still, will be having one in The Bierhaus very soon!

I doubt Harviestoun have the economy of scale that Duvel have which may be a factor when sourcing their malt/hops.
