Guinness Nitro IPA 10 years 7 months ago #1

Yes, it really is craft beer, according to Esquire. Brewed in Dublin.

What are people's thoughts? This and other recent activities under the Smithwicks and Guinness names are Diageo trying to gain credibility, confuse the consumer, and capture market share at the expense of actual craft brewers?

Expect a shortage of Topaz in the coming years so.

I don't think they are trying to confuse the consumer as such, although as evidenced by my recent slip up, Hop House 13 as a name certainly has

I'm not sure what's going through their mindset but I imagine they want something, anything on the shelf to keep them relevant. It might also be a case of the more new stuff they bring out, the more shelf and tap space they keep away from the annoying little gnats that are biting in to their profit.

I think "Guinness will soon join the craft brewing movement" proves the author for one is confused!

Well at least it's honest. They are using the Guinness brand, not a fake microbrewery identity.

Can't see an IPA working on nitro, but I'll reserve judgement until I taste it.
