Ratebeer - a way of promoting Irish beers 11 years 1 week ago #1

We've had posts about ratebeer before, I'm sure but this is more a way of drumming up support for Irish beer in particular.

We have a small but active population of irish raters on ratebeer and we do our best to get our beers noticed but a number of beers don't even hit the !10 rate minimum" to be eligible fo rrankings. I want the world to know that we have great beer now here in Ireland, we can't be selfish and keep it to ourselves!

Galway Bay won best Irish Brewer on ratebeer last year, and JW Sweetman the year before, but this is as much down to number of rates as beer quality.

I'd love a lot of Beoir members to sign up and review beers and particularly places to give visitors an up to date resource when visiting us. I know a lot of you write tasting notes; could you sign up and add them?

I find ratebeer is a great way to review my year's consumption for end of year award giving and I've found a real community of friends through it, including some who have helped me get hold of beers I otherwise wouldn't have.

So even if you don't go in for assigning numbers to beers; I hope you can see the benefit a site like ratebeer brings in raising the profile of Irish brewing on the world stage

Please?

NB for full disclosure I'm the Ireland (and a UK) admin on RateBeer, under Beersiveknown...look me up if you do join

Cheers!

good man!

the app is handy as its lets you rate offline and upload at a later date.

its also permissible for people to add backlogs (with the provisio that if its over 1 year old and not on the site, you shouldn't add it!) so feel free to do so!

I just can't get my head around assigning numbers to the attributes of beers.

You'll never make a beer judge then! Well not a BJCP one anyway.
