The last time I had a pint of Harp was in San Diego, when a thoughtful but misguided colleague bought me a pint of it when they didn't have the beer I requested. She said, "I thought you'd like this as you're Irish". I puked my ring up that night, and all I'd had was that pint, and one other beer. Last time I had it was about five years ago in Rome, where the bar (The Trinity College; Via Collegio; avoid) had two taps: both Harpic. I was *so* desperate for a beer I succumbed.

Fortunately, Rome is full of places for confession and absolution...

I had Harp my one and only time in Dundalk dog track. It wasn't very good - very grainy - but it was the freshest pint of commercial lager I've ever had. Probably gets better turn over nearer the border.
