Dungarvan are teaming up with Blackwater Gin to make a sherry cask aged, distilled oatmeal stout. Will certainly be interesting anyway.

[quote:3mlo1jsp]Well, we promised you news in the new year, so here's the first piece.. we are delighted to be collaborating with Ireland's newest micro-distiller, Blackwater Gin to create Ireland's first distilled beer!
Cormac has brewed up an oatmeal stout, which is fermenting at the moment, and next week it'll be delivered to Cappoquin where Peter will distill it, then age it in sherry barrels. Ready for tasting at West Waterford Festival of Food in April smile emoticon[/quote:3mlo1jsp]

Sounds great <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->, that must be the 8% beer he was brewing the other day

Thanks folks! It is indeed the 8% oatmeal stout that Cormac was brewing, it's now fermenting and will be going out to Blackwater Distillery next week. Peter from the distillery has promised to document the journey from there, and already has a blog post up about it: [url:34m9a9ek]http://blackwaterdistillery.ie/01/[/url:34m9a9ek]

Yeah, adnams, mikeller, Dreier fonteinen. Bear in mind a lot of the flavour will be lost in the water fraction and some in the heads so will be v different to beer!
