Picked up a bottle of this today and me and a friend couldn't finish the bottle between us. I must stress that this was my first time trying a saison so i wasnt sure what to expect but this tasted very similar to my worst homebrew ever (made with lager yeast without temp control in the heatwave last summer). I dont want to say its a bad beer as im not familiar with the style, but definitely not to my taste.

What im wondering is, is this typical for a saison?

On a plus note, i also picked up a few bottles of whistle blower IPA (also from Trouble brewing) and its absolutely delicious. reminds me of Beoir#1, not surprising since it uses 2 of the same hops.

Saison is a Belgian farmhouse summer beer.
It should be pale, tart, fizzy, and bone dry - real hot weather quenchers.
The typical flavours I think of are lemon, anise and pepper.
They're not as sweet and yeasty as Belgian Pale Ales but thinner and more spicy than a Biere de Garde.

Lazy Sunday I found far too sweet and the phenols too rubbery. It's the weakest of Trouble's new range.

I found it the same. Not as dry as a saison should be. One is nice but I'd be pushed to have much more. The rest of the new series is another story. Whistle blower is delicious and I'd love to try big bear brown ale on cask.

Their saison wasn't dry enough for me either.

The rye red felt a bit 'meh' (best analysis). More like just a murky red.

However, the Whistleblower really impressed me... I didn't expect it to but it really did. Love the ... Galaxy, was it? Inspired name also.

Not opened my brown yet but I got a growler fill of it from L. Mulligan a while back and it was a winner (think it was cask).

Thanks for the feedback lads. (Do I presume too much saying lads?) I've noticed that the Saison Style is one that seems to divide people down the middle, some love it and some can't abide it.

So it was when we brewed our Spelt Saison a few years back and seems to be the case with the Lazy Sunday too.

I've bad news for anybody looking for the cask/keg versions on this range as they're all sold, unless someone is holding one back in their cold room unbeknownst to us.

Had a bottle a few weeks back and while it wasn't as good as say, Blue Moon, it wasn't half bad either. Perhaps a tad on the sweet side but pretty acceptable as that style goes.
