Pimp my kettle 17 years 1 week ago #1

A nifty how-to from Freedgull this week: boost your boiling power by adding a domestic kettle element to your boiler. Link[/url:3t02k6bv].

just so people know- the cheapest kettle available down here is from argos at 7.50. If you're near a NI tesco, their value kettle is 5 pounds so much of a muchness. If anyone knows a cheaper one let me know, I'm going to need a few of them!

Nice article. Thats something I've been thinking of doing for a while.

Another simple way to increase your heating efficiency is to improve mixing inside your tank. Whether that is desirable or not is up to you.

Nice one.
I've been having trouble with my Electrum for ages.
I can knock this out tonight.

Does anyone know if it's ok to plug both elements into the same double socket? I'd be afraid there'd be too much current passing through it.
From a 2kw element you'd have 9.1Amps (Watts/Volts = Amps)going through, and the 1.8kw you'd have 8.2amps = 17.3amps in total to the same socket. My ring main breaker is rated for 20amps, so that's already very close to the max load. Ideally get them onto 2 seperated circuits if possible.
