€25 + €3.57 booking fee just to get in. Altho by all accounts, I heard good things about it last year. No info on the Beer Academy, and little about the Wine/Spirit Acadamy (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.tasteofdublin07.ie/wine_and_spirit">www.tasteofdublin07.ie/wine_and_spirit)

We are a little off the original post here, but just to say that I sent the Taste of Dublin people an enquiry about what did the "Beer Academy" entail. I will let you know what they say. The encouraging thing was to see a picture from last years event of that English chef (can't remember his name - help!) with Ryan Tubridy. He is a real beer guy, and does all he can to promote beer, cooking with beer, dining with beer etc.

I was at that last year and, quite frankly, it was a rip off.

We had to pay in and then got vouchers to use to buy food and drink. The food was all in small taster size portions, which is fair enough, but they wanted anywhere from €5 to €7 worth of vouchers for each tiny little taster. We had to buy more vouchers, so we ended up spending a bloody fortune there and still had to go get food afterwards.

The Porterhouse and the Carlow brewing company both had stalls.

The Carlow Brew Co. had a small stall selling bottles of their beers in presentation boxes, while the Porterhouse had a full scale pub set up, with tables, multiple beers on tap and a fridge with a small selection of imports.

I had a reply from the organisers:

Thank you for your enquiry. The Beer Academy is being run by Leffe Beers who
are one of the Worlds leading Beer specialists. They are also taking a major
role in the other 4 festivals in the UK and have just recently signed to
Dublin. We are still awaiting full details of the operations of this section
but they will be tasting a selection of beers from all over the world and
pairing them with food. Further details will be made available on our
website at a later date or may be found on our partners site
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.channel4.com/life/microsites/T/taste/index.html">www.channel4.com/life/microsites ... index.html
Channel 4 are partners to the event.

So there!
