Revenge is a dish best served at cellar temperature 17 years 3 months ago #1

My article[/url:308j3rpm] on Tuesday's blind ale tasting challenge[/url:308j3rpm] is now up.

Thanks to all who participated, and to Bog_Myrtle and a_friend_in_mead for the pictures.

Great article beernut.
Thanks to the bull and castle for putting up with us.

We got 2.166 beers right on average. At random you would expect to get only one. I'll try work out the stats to see how often it is you would be right this often purely guessing at random.

Sbillings had a good suggestion for another fun test where we just taste one example from a few different styles. Ill let him describe it.

Irish reds maybe? I don't think I could tell the difference between Smithwicks, Macardles, Kilkenny, Mollings and Beamish.

Nice article. Looked like a good night.

Now that you've done the stout and the English Ales what's next? Belgian? IPA's? (whatever it is I'll have to make the next one.)

I found it very tough, though Abbot Ale did stand out a mile for all the wrong reasons.

Great article. It was difficult to do but interesting as you really have to focus on what the beer tastes like.
I think it's interesting that everyone agreed on the beer they liked least. This beer turned out to be Abbott Ale. The clear glass is not doing this beer any favours at all. I wonder why they do it? We definitely proved that you can taste the difference.
