AT, 93c is certainly more than adequate for the mashtun, you would imagine it would probably be OK for short periods at near boiling as well - are you thinking of using it as an alternative to copper tubing in your RIMS/HERMS system? (can't remember which one you're building)

Can you get this in B&Q/Woodies or do you need to go to a plumbing supplier?

You can get it in B&Q or Woodies no problem. Plus all the quick-snap fittings.

I can't help thinking that copper [i:25kueyqd]looks [/i:25kueyqd]nicer though Mmmm, shiney

[EDIT]bigears : I'm currently working on a small HERMS system. Speaking of which, do you guys have an idea of what recirculation rate is required ? With my rather slow pump, I can recirculate the wort about 3 times over the mashing period. Would that be enough ?

I have no idea of how HERMS even works although I would like someone to give me a dummy's guide. I am thinking of getting a pump now that I have a separate boiler for the Hot Liquor Tank. With the 3 tier setup it's just way too high to fill comfortably. I'd like to move to a 1 tier or 2 tier system. I don't even know what to think about in terms of connections for a pump/ how to prime it etc.

I'm sure three times would be plenty once you let the grain bed settle a bit. I bought pumps of normannumpa on e bay if you need a better one?

Bigears i did consider using qualpex at the start but now i'm thinking about stainless steel pipe. I'm still waiting on a few bits yet so i still have time to think about it. Oh it's a herms

[quote:2psb23v5]Bigears i did consider using qualpex at the start but now i'm thinking about stainless steel pipe.[/quote:2psb23v5]Presumably for the shiny factor? Do you reckon Qualpex or Copper would have worked? I think I'm too DIY challenged to take on either copper or stainless. To begin with I'd be happy to use a pump purely to transfer sparge water to the mash tun and wort to the kettle, connecting and disconnecting the tubing as I go. Would Qualpex of silicon tubing be suitable? My sparge water reaches close to boiling but I presume the temp would drop a little as it flows through the tubing.

I've seen the guys on Jim's recommend the Morebeer pump - is Norman's something similar and what connectors do you need? I probably have about 100 other questions. Maybe I should start a new thread.
